Passion for Shellfish
The passion for shellfish began in my family with my grandfather, Adrie, who specialized in oyster and mussel farming. His dedication laid the foundation for our family in this industry. Father Jaap continued this tradition and established his own company, focusing on oysters and mussels.
Over the years, our family business grew into a leading player in the shellfish industry, with a focus on cockles, mussels, other shellfish, and shrimp. After working in the family business for several years, I decided to broaden my horizons and gained experience in various other industry-related companies.
In 2021, armed with this valuable experience, I founded The Fresh House. The company specializes in purging shellfish, rewatering, and packaging fresh live shellfish. We particularly focus on palourdes, vongole, and cockles, striving for the highest quality and freshness for our customers.
Our presence extends beyond the Netherlands. Proudly, we serve diverse markets in Europe. In addition to our valued customers in the Netherlands, we have forged strong international partnerships with collaborators in Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden), Belgium, France, Italy, and Spain.
